When I reflect on Mother's Day, this is what I think of....
1) I didn't think it would be this hard! HA! Don't get me wrong, not everyday is hard, but it seems like a lot are. My struggle is finding the balance between work, family life, the farm, and finding time to be myself. Luckily, I have 2 wonderful kiddos that make it all worth it at the end of the day.
2) I've learned to enjoy the little moments. Sometimes building forts in the living room or having a tickle war has more fulfillment than any big day trip could ever bring. The sound of my children's laughter is what brings me the most joy.
3) They listen. When I'm having a bad day and shed a tear, Corbin will come over with a reassuring hug and tell me "I love you, Mommy. It's ok!". Even Hallie will come over and give me pats on the back and say "k". It tells me that it's ok to not be perfect and they have my back, too!
4) Ornery.....my kids are ornery! I watch other parents with their kids who sit perfectly at restaurants and the ones who just smile at anything and everything. Well, that is not how I would describe my tribe. My kids are ACTIVE and MOVING constantly! Trips are exhausting. I'm sure I get the "she needs to get a handle on her kids" look more often than not, but I'M TRYING! It's hard to contain the wild, but I've learned that the wild can calm the wild. Outside and manual labor is where my children shine. The farm is their saving grave. It let's them get dirty, explore, and be free...Most importantly, they can be THEMSELVES without judgement.
5) I love them! No matter how hard it gets, how tired I am, or defeated I feel some days, I love them! I love their smile. I love their orneriness. I love the snuggles and giggles. I love that they come to me for comfort. I love watching them grow and learn. I love absolutely everything about them. They made me mom and I can never thank them enough for bringing me the joy that job brings.
So, for all my mommas out there, enjoy this day and reflect. Reflect on the love. There is so much to get wrapped up in these days, but I'd say your kids are the best things to be wrapped up in today! ❤
